Cheryl McCann grew up in the Kansas City area and Iowa. While caring for her ill grandmother, Cheryl began working at a bank. Here, Cheryl met her husband (a customer). After studying accounting at the Kansas City Kansas Community College and Caldwell College, Cheryl settled in Liberty, where she started her own accounting business. In our oral history interview, Cheryl reflected upon the coronavirus’s impacts on small business owners, the challenges businesses face reopening after lockdowns, and difficulties confronting her clients as they apply for federal loans and unemployment. She also discusses partisanship during the  pandemic and the pandemic’s impact upon education, social interactions, historical research, and human-environment interactions.
